LASIK vs. Lens Implant Vision Correction

LASIK and other laser surgery methods are not the only ways to correct defected vision. Corrective artificial lens implants is an alternative method for people who don't want to wear glasses or have the trouble of putting in contact lenses everyday. Which vision correction procedure is better.

Pros of Lens Implants: If you are not a good candidate for eye surgery then Corrective Lens implants may be the only option. People with high myopia (shortsightedness) may be considered good candidates for lens implants. Also Lens implants are not as permanent as laser surgery, which removes tissue during the procedure. If the procedure goes wrong the implanted lens can simply be removed and replaced if wished. This can be very beneficial because peoples eyesight may change as they get older.

Cons of Lens Implants: This type of procedure is relatively new so there is still a lot to learn about the long-term effects and other factors that may need improving. The materials of the lens may cause some people to have an allergic reaction, this would not happen in LASIK surgery. Corrective Lens Implants is considerably more expensive than Laser surgery but are easier to reverse in case something goes wrong.
